35 Worms companies, institutions and their social partners sign the "Charta Wormser Wirtschaftsbündnis für Demokratie" (Worms Business Alliance for Democracy)

• Prof Dr Karl-Rudolf Korte initiates corporate awareness for the active strengthening of democratic values
• RENOLIT, Volksbank, Timbra and EWR pledge their commitment to openness, tolerance and respectful coexistence
• Democracy ambassadors are trained in the companies

Worms, 17 April 2024 – At a time when democratic values are under increasing pressure both in Germany and globally, 35 leading companies, institutions and their social partners (DGB, IGBCE, IGM and ver.di) with around 10,000 employees from the Worms region have joined forces in an unprecedented initiative. With the " Charta Wormser Wirtschaftsbündnis für Demokratie" (Worms Business Alliance for Democracy Charter), they are sending out a strong signal in favour of democracy and tolerance that is unique in Germany. The current socio-political situation - characterised by an increase in extremist tendencies - makes the need for such a commitment clear and underlines the importance of this initiative.
