    Pioneering sustainable water management solutions in the French Alps

    RENOLIT ALKORPLAN geomembranes has successfully tackled the environmental and logistical challenges of water resource management in mountainous terrains through its latest project at the Superdévoluy ski resort in the French Alps.

    Taco Mountain Basin

    BALTEN chose RENOLIT and its ALKORPLAN Hydro geomembrane for the re-waterproofing of the Taco Mountain basin (Tenerife). The project allowed to ensure irrigation without generating negative impacts on the territory: waste materials were recycled, thus significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

    Karraskain Tunnel

    The success of the tunnels’ usability would not be possible without them being perfectly waterproofed. The drainage and waterproofing offer major technical and economic advantages. The tunnels isolated from the water coming from the saturation of the surrounding or phreatic ground, have higher quality finishes and offer a reduction in maintenance costs. This barrier protects against corrosion, preventing damage to the cladding structure and to existing installations.

    Arnotegi Tunnel

    Due to the method chosen for the waterproofing of these tunnels, it required a waterproof sheet which would be resistant to both perforation, roots, aging and deformation, as well as being flexible with a large capacity to be elongated.

    Stormwater tanks Madrid - Ahijones

    The stormwater attenuation tanks have long been the solution for preventing damage caused by heavy downpours. Correct sizing is the key to them functioning correctly, i.e., defining the storage volume appropriate to each geographical context and to each environmental issue. Historically, these tanks were defined as large underground structures, generally made of concrete and associated with very high constriction and maintenance costs.

    Irrigation reservoir - Llanos de Mesa

    To waterproof the reservoir’s slopes, the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN HYDRO R F SST 00414 geocomposite with SST coating technology which incorporates a 300gr/m2 geotextile polypropylene sheet on the reinforced geomembrane with polyester. This product increases the friction angle between the sheet and the geotextile, eliminating the interface with the geomembrane posed by the geotextile, which is installed as a floating cover. Similarly, it prevents the movement of the felt throughout the installation period and later caused by the wind.
