WESTHUB, LITHUANIA’S GREENEST AND MOST ADVANCED LOGISTICS CENTER SHINES THANKS TO RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright

The white cool roof membrane par excellence with its solar reflection index of 115 - the best available on the market - is particularly effective in reflecting solar radiation. Westhub has also joined RENOLIT ALKORPLAN’s Cool3 campaign for reforestation and CO2 absorption.

Sant Celoni, Barcelona, 31 01 2022 - Westhub is the greenest logistics center in all of Lithuania. Developed by Kamida NT, certified in class A++ and BREEAM with the “very good” ranking, the center is located in Kaunas, west of the capital Vilnius, in one of the most strategic areas of the country for commercial flows: a total of 15,500 square meters, available to companies operating in logistics, pharmaceuticals and other activities. A stone’s throw from the representative offices, 1,800 square meters in total, an ideal location for business activities connected to the logistics center. Given the focus on innovation and sustainability, on the roof of the Westhub you can now find RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright, the white cool roof membrane par excellence which, with its solar reflection index of 115 - the best available on the market - is particularly effective in reflecting solar radiation. RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright is a high-end product, white in all its mass (i.e. both in the lower part and in the surface) and which consequently offers a quality of finish much appreciated by professionals in the sector. Furthermore, the finishing coating favours the flow of water and dust (anti-dirt coating) which would normally adhere to the surface of the roof. The maintenance of the cover is therefore easier and its appearance will be much cleaner.

With a thickness of 1.5 mm, RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright, in fact, provides hydraulic sealing, mechanical and chemical resistance, as well as versatility, aesthetics and resistance to UV rays. RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright also allows great energy savings. The surface of a traditional membrane roof reaches 80°C on the hottest summer days, one with RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright does not exceed 40°C, with significant effects also on the internal temperature of the building: from 30°C to 25°C, a good 5° less. In addition to the cool roof, the Westhub in Kaunas has earned the A++ and BREEAM certification with a “very good” ranking also thanks to its complete energy autonomy from renewable sources (a system of photovoltaic panels will also be installed on the roof), to LED that guarantees low consumption, to the 10 charging stations for electric cars, to the building control and management system which is particularly advanced in terms of technology. RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright enhances the yield of photovoltaic panels thanks to two factors that add up and feed each other: firstly because the panels receive part of their energy from the sun’s rays that are reflected from the white roof (with an energy return from 3% to 4% more); secondly, because the photovoltaic modules perform better at lower temperatures (each degree above 25ºC of air temperature causes a loss of 0.5% in the yield of the system).

Westhub also participated in the Cool3 campaign of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products. The project involves the planting of a tree for every four rolls RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright used. 190 trees were then planted, for a total of 57,000 kg of C0 2 spared. In fact, each tree absorbs an average of 300 kg of carbon dioxide per year for at least 10 years, making an important contribution to the fight against global warming, as was also pointed out at the last COP26 which was held in Glasgow. The Cool3 campaign by RENOLIT ALKORPLAN is made in collaboration with Treedom, a partner that allows people and companies to plant trees and follow their projects remotely. Kenneth Witte, Managing Director of RENOLIT Nordic, delivered the certificate of recognition of adherence to the Cool3 campaign to the Germantas Kavaliauskas, Project Manager of Kamida, during a ceremony which was also attended by Andrius Augūnas, Product Development Manager of Moderni Izoliacija. This company from Vilnius in Lithuania supplied the material.
