The material for advertsing dreams: calendered films

RENOLIT offers the ideal basis for effective signage and striking images.

October 7th, 2021 –  We perceive around 80 percent of all information through our eyes. And it only takes 150 milliseconds for our first impression of what we see to manifest itself. We often don't even consciously perceive the optical stimuli. And yet we can remember them later, because our subconscious simply stores them.

These facts show why visual communication plays a crucial role in advertising. By working with visually perceptible signage and images, it appeals to the sense of sight and makes its way into our memory. RENOLIT offers a "material" that is particularly suitable for visual communication: Calendered films.

    Real eye catchers

We encounter them all the time in everyday life. On buses, trains and other vehicles, at bus stops, as wall tattoos or glass decorations in our own homes, or as printed advertising at events. In recent years, our calendered films have developed into a high-quality yet effective alternative for visual communication. Today, they are thinner and glossier, more stable and more adaptable than ever before. As a result, they are ideally suited as self-adhesive applications for the needs of users in the advertising technology sector.

The consistently high quality is made possible by our sophisticated production technology. Each of our films has its own formulation, which we have continuously refined and improved over the years. This technology guarantees the performance of our films as well as their mechanical properties, durability and colour consistency.

    The manufacturing process

For our films, PVC powder, additives, stabilizers, colour pigments and plasticizers are mixed into a dry mixture and then melted in an extruder. A conveyor belt takes the melt to a mill, which consists of two roller lines, where it is smoothed by heat and pressure. This makes the melt more homogeneous.

In the calender, the melt is then smoothed into a film. This process is repeated several times, with the film becoming increasingly uniform, thinner and wider as the temperature rises – in line with the customer's requirements. The hot film then goes to the embossing station, where it is given the desired patterns and gloss levels. Finally the film is cooled and wound up.

    The highest quality standards

We guarantee the consistently excellent quality of our films via our control system which uses highly sensitive intelligent sensors. This enables us to monitor the entire manufacturing process and continuously check film properties such as thickness, gloss level, colour and width. Because only if everything is right can our customers be sure that their visual communication is well received.
