American investor acquires RENOLIT Ondex
Worms (Germany), Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur (France) and Rome (Italy), 1 July 2025 – Plastics processor RENOLIT is selling the French company RENOLIT Ondex S.A.S. to American Industrial Acquisition Corporation (AIAC). RENOLIT officially informed its employees of this decision today. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The company is also closing RENOLIT Tecno Imac in Rome.
The two subsidiaries manufacture and sell roofs and cladding made from biaxially oriented plastic sheets, as well as roof sheets, gutters and pipes for the DIY market. They have been part of the Roof & Water Care market unit since January 2023. RENOLIT Ondex S.A.S. employs around 100 people at its site in Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur near Dijon, and RENOLIT Tecno Imac employs 13 people at its site in Rome.
“The ONE RENOLIT 2025 strategy aims to achieve a top 3 position in our key markets. At RENOLIT Ondex S.A.S., we expect a positive development overall, but not a market-leading position”, says Chief Executive Officer Karsten Jänicke. “In addition, hardly any synergies could be realised between RENOLIT Ondex S.A.S., RENOLIT Tecno Imac and our company group. We have therefore decided to sell the site in France and close the site in Rome.”
RENOLIT Ondex S.A.S. has been part of the RENOLIT Group since April 2006. Since then, various initiatives have been launched to improve integration and strengthen the business. These included the acquisition of Italian company TecnoImac in October 2018, with which RENOLIT aimed to expand its DIY business, which was new to the company. As part of this step, the film manufacturer moved the main production of RENOLIT Tecno Imac in Rome to the site in Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur. Sales, warehousing and a small part of production for the important southern Italian market of RENOLIT Tecno Imac remained in Rome.
American Industrial Acquisition Corporation (AIAC) is acquiring the business of RENOLIT Ondex S.A.S. in France. AIAC is a global industrial and distribution group focused on strategic acquisitions. AIAC has 82 locations in 24 countries and primarily acquires manufacturing and distribution companies from large corporations.
The formal information procedure and consultation with employees required under French law was initiated today, 1 July 2025. This process is expected to be completed by the end of August at the latest. Only then will the official purchase agreement be signed by both parties.
The film manufacturer has also decided to close RENOLIT Tecno Imac in Rome and will inform the workforce about the next steps and dates as soon as possible. “We regret this unavoidable step and greatly appreciate the hard work and commitment of our Italian employees. We will provide the affected employees with the best possible support as they transition to a new professional future,” says Renaat Demeulemeester, General Manager of the RENOLIT Roof & Water Care market unit.
