Headquarters invests more than nine million euros in new warehouse capacities

Worms, 12 May 2023 - RENOLIT's headquarters in Worms is investing in the expansion of its existing hazardous materials warehouse. In order to modernise the site and make it future-proof, the company is constructing a building measuring around 1,200 square metres. On 11 May 2023, the Executive Board of RENOLIT SE, the management of the production site as well as members of the Supervisory Board and the owner family celebrated the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony. The mayor of the city of Worms, Stephanie Lohr, accompanied the official start of the construction project as guest of honour.

The expansion of the hazardous materials warehouse is necessary to create new storage capacity for plasticisers, stabilisers and other liquid and solid additives needed for the production of PVC films. The existing hazardous materials warehouse is no longer sufficient due to a planned modernisation of the preparation room. The investment volume amounts to 4.78 million euros for the extension of the building and 4.3 million euros for the new tank facility.

"The expansion of the hazardous materials warehouse is a necessary prerequisite for the modernisation of the mixing plant, which we will undertake as the next step in the course of upgrading and securing the future of our largest production site," says Michael Kundel, CEO of RENOLIT. "We are very pleased to now complete this so important step after a long period of preparation and approval!"
With the expanded hazardous materials warehouse, the substances can be stored centrally. This optimises the supply of the two plants on the company's premises, as it is no longer necessary to transport the hazardous substance containers with a forklift truck. The entire building is designed as a media-tight collection tank. This means that extinguishing water and escaping liquids can be safely retained in an emergency.

"For our site, the expanded hazardous materials storage facility is an important milestone in bringing our facilities up to date, improving economic efficiency and making the workplaces safer and more ergonomic for our employees," explains Dr. Michael Bätz, General Manager of the production site.

Completion of the building on the RENOLIT company premises is planned for January 2024. The hazardous materials warehouse is expected to be ready for operation in April 2024.
