Our South American site RENOLIT Chile SpA is powered from 100% renewable sources

2022-07-12 ⟩ On May 1st, 2022, RENOLIT Chile SpA signed a contract with SAFIRA ENERGÍA CHILE SpA to power its whole operation exclusively from renewable sources, such as wind, solar and hydroelectric. The new partnership is an important part of our RENOLIT Goes Circular initiative, and here especially the “Production” segment, to become a more circular economy.

    A PERFECT POWER PARTNERSHIP

SAFIRA ENERGÍA CHILE SpA is a young and aspiring energy startup focussed on the distribution of efficiently generated energy.

RENOLIT Chile SpA is the South American production site of the RENOLIT market unit RENOLIT Healthcare. Both, SAFIRA ENERGÍA CHILE SpA and RENOLIT Healthcare share the same values like collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, making this partnership a perfect fit for RENOLIT Healthcare’s “Together Towards Health” approach.

    [RENOLIT] GOES CIRCULAR

The RENOLIT Goes Circular initiative focuses on the entire product life cycle in order to achieve sustainability and close the material and energy cycle as far as possible. RENOLIT Healthcare is adopting the initiative’s targets and actions by collaborating with customers, partners and start-ups to develop innovative and sustainable solutions and processes for the global healthcare markets.

    A FOSSIL-FREE RAW MATERIAL FUTURE

For example, RENOLIT Healthcare is setting the course for future sustainable concepts by cooperating with Photanol B.V., a start-up that has developed a process to develop non-fossil raw materials for polymer production from sunlight, CO2 and cyanobacteria. In addition, the Market Unit Healthcare is developing a new manufacturing process that, among other things, minimizes the use of resources for polymeric films and enables the production of more easily recyclable mono-materials.

    GLOBALLY MINIMIZING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

And at its three global innovation centers and four production sites, Healthcare is working hard to minimize its carbon footprint, increase material efficiency and develop holistic concepts for recycling used customer products. To help solve this challenge in the future, RENOLIT Healthcare, for example, is collaborating with the U.K. National Health Service (NHS) on a pilot project aimed at promoting the circular economy in hospitals, among other projects.
