We are not only a leading international manufacturer of high-quality plastic films and other plastic products, but also an employer with a global and local responsibility. In both our global locations and our headquarters in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, we are aware of our responsibility towards the environment, society and RENOLIT employees, and actively participate in various initiatives to ensure our competitiveness, sustainability and future viability.
We see our responsibility as reaching across generations, not just financial quarters
Committed to sustainable development
As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality plastic films and other plastic products, we feel a special commitment to the topic of sustainability. Responsible business has many different aspects, which is why our understanding of sustainability stretches across the three dimensions of ecology, economy and social responsibility, and is firmly anchored in our corporate culture.
Our annual sustainability report provides information on our activities and progress in the past financial year.
In addition, we have been publishing a sustainability magazine since 2019, which compactly shows how RENOLIT lives its responsibility. Selected key figures combined with vivid highlight projects make the topic of sustainability a tangible experience.
Human rights always in our focus
As an internationally active company, we are aware of our responsibility with regard to the observance of human rights - both in our own company and in our business relationships. How RENOLIT fulfils its due diligence and what measures are taken to further protect human rights is shown in the following Policy Statement on Human Rights signed by the Executive Board.
Commited to PVC.
VinylPlus is a voluntary commitment from the European PVC industry to sustainable production and application of plastic PVC. The programme creates a long-term framework for the sustainable development of the PVC industry by addressing a number of critical challenges in the EU, Norway and Switzerland. This aims, among other things, to increase the annual quantity of PVC recycled to 800,000 tonnes by 2020.
We see voluntary commitment as the key to the sustainable development of the PVC industry. As a founding member of the Vinyl Foundation, RENOLIT co-finances the sustainability initiative and acts as a multiplier for its objectives on the Foundation’s Executive Board and Communication Committee. The Vinyl 2010 initiative succeeded in establishing a Europe-wide infrastructure for the collection and recycling of over 250,000 tonnes of PVC per year and replacing additives such as, e.g. cadmium stabilisers. The new goals of VinylPlus are:
- Recycling 800,000 tonnes of PVC per year by 2020
- Promoting sustainability along the entire PVC value-added chain
- Increasing the use of renewable energies and raw materials in PVC production
- Increasing energy efficiency
- Ensuring additives are used on the basis of sustainability criteria
- Broaching the subject of organochloric emissions
PVC as a future-proof and sustainable material
RENOLIT is a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft PVC und Umwelt e.V. (AGPU) and is an active member of their Executive Board. For more than 25 years, the association has been connecting companies along the entire PVC value-added chain. The aim is to bring PVC materials in line with all environmental concerns and to support the PVC industry on the path to sustainable development.
