VERONA PLATYS CENTER: LESS ENERGY AND MORE SUSTAINABILITY WITH A COOL ROOF FOR TREE PLANTING.

In the oasis of sport and well-being of the town of Juliet and Romeo beats an ever-greener heart. Isodeck PVSteel offers the best performance in terms of waterproofing and carbon footprint. It is the result of a collaboration between RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products and ISOPAN.

Sant Celoni, Barcelona, 13 04 2023 – In the heart of Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet, Platys Center was created, an oasis of sport and well-being dedicated to sustainability. Fifty thousand green square meters, between water and nature, with all state-of-the-art services for sports activities, holistic disciplines, and relaxation. “Sustainability is the main driver of this project,” says Filippo Ghezzer, CEO at Bio Campus Sporting srl, the company that invested in the Platys Center. “Indeed, this center has a very strict sustainability certification, as Sites reference, which provided us with instructions to get to some detail-oriented solutions.” Every choice, from design to implementation, from services to activities, has been driven by a strong environmental responsibility. In this context Isodeck PVSteel was used for the roofing of the Platys center, a product that offers the best performance in terms of waterproofing and carbon footprint, the natural result of the collaboration between RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products and ISOPAN, two leading companies in the sector.

"Isodeck PVSteel is a sandwich panel with a double sheet that makes it resistant to loads, designed for flat or slightly inclined roofs," explains Ester Caldana, ISOPAN Product Technical Specialist. “The insulating core is made of polyurethane foam or mineral wool. It is a double metal lining, therefore consisting of a ribbed face in the intrados and a flat sheet on the extrados, coupled with the synthetic RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright white PVC membrane, characterized by a solar reflection factor of 114.” The cool roof increases the efficiency of photovoltaic panels, keeps insulation at an ideal temperature, reflects sunlight and decreases the internal temperature, saving energy (lower air conditioning costs), reducing CO2 emissions, and thus helping to reduce the effects of climate change. The pontage strips between panels are then heat-sealed to ensure total waterproofing of the cover. Caldana goes on: “The RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Solar profiles for fixing photovoltaic panels can then be welded to the system. In this way, the efficiency of the roofing is top-notch.”

The Isodeck PVSteel panel coupled in the factory to the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Bright membrane participates in the Cool 3 campaign, thanks to which one tree is planted for every 100 square meters of product sold. Each tree absorbs an average of 345 kg of CO2 over its lifetime, making a small but significant contribution to sustainability. “When we bought the product, we did not know about this added value but obviously we were very pleased,” says Filippo Ghezzer, who on behalf of the company received the certificate of participation in the Cool3 campaign. “Planting trees is in itself an act of sustainability, in the same Platys center we will plant an orchard of local native plants. More and more people consider environmental sustainability as an element of choice, which therefore also becomes an element of economic sustainability.” In this case 42 trees were planted for an absorption of about 14,500 kg of CO2.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products were very proud to work alongside such an enlightened entrepreneur for this project as well as for the collaboration with ISOPAN. A specific Cool 3 campaign was also  created for ISOPAN. The campaign, valid throughout 2023, demonstrates the ability of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products to work in synergy with customers to find efficient solutions that are increasingly sustainable and thus achieve significant results all together.
