RENOLIT apprentices set up junior company for a good cause

Junior staff donate proceeds to child and youth welfare centre in Worms

Worms, 7 February  2022 - For the eighth time, Worms apprentices from RENOLIT 2021 launched the Junior Company project and sold their specially developed product for a good cause. During the project, nine of the second-year apprentices learned about the complexity of entrepreneurial processes and experienced what it means to run their own small business. Since October last year, the apprentices have been working independently on the production, marketing and distribution of their product.

Christoph Hogen, trainer at RENOLIT and coordinator of the project, thinks that the junior company is a good way to gain insights into the structure of a company: "Every year I am excited to see what ideas our trainees come up with. The junior company strengthens communication and understanding between commercial and industrial professional groups and requires them to deal with strategic issues. The apprentices then find it easier to understand processes in the company in their further professional life."

When asked what product the junior company should develop this year, the apprentices decided to create a RENOLIT clock. The wall clock covered with decorative foil was very well received by the staff. By selling it to RENOLIT employees, the apprentices were able to raise a sum of 1,350 €. The money was handed over as a donation to the St. Marien child and youth welfare centre in Worms on 2 February 2022. It is to be used as financial support for a weekend trip for the residential groups to offer the children and young people a nice leisure programme.

"I think it's great that the junior company gave us the chance to contribute and implement our own ideas. Despite some challenges, looking back I'm proud that we were able to complete the project so successfully," says Lena Spiegel, a RENOLIT apprentice who was responsible for managing the marketing of the junior company. "But we are especially happy about the high donation amount with which we can support children and young people in Worms."
