The project:

The construction of nine one bedroom apartments at Journeaux Court, St Helier, has bolstered the accommodation available within the Social Housing Sector on Jersey.

Tenders were invited from five local Main Contractors, with contract being awarded to the Main Contractor, AC Mauger.

Advanced Roofing Services Limited (a part of the AC MAuger Group) were the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN approved roofing contractor who installed the reinforced RENOLIT ALKORPLAN/ALKORDESIGN charcoal-coloured profiled roof.

Jersey States Housing Minister Deputy, Andrew Green, stated that they are very pleased with the completed project & pleased that the design of the apartments and roofing areas aesthetically blend in with the buildings in the surrounding area.

AC Mauger Construction Managing Director, James Joseph, stated that the project could have been difficult as it is in a very built up area of the town. This problem was overcome by the co-operation and team effort of everyone involved (ie. Jersey States Property Holdings Architectural team, Advanced Roofing Services, AC Mauger Site Management & the Clerk Of Works).

Jersey States Property Architects specified the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN/ALKORDESIGN Charcoal single-ply membrane due to its :

  • aesthetically pleasing colour
  • A+ Environmental Green Guide BREEAM rating
  • Durability (BBA Life Expectancy in excess of 35 Years)

The project posed no real problems for the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN approved contractor, Advanced Roofing Services, using a mechanically fastened system with welded seams. Due to the products versatility, a highly competitive cost could be achieved within the planned time schedule.

The roof area was completed with little/no disruption to the overall site which had to remain fully operational throughout.
