THREE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES | DESIGN OPTIONS IN COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION AND SHOPFITTING
RENOLIT COVAREN and RENOLIT ALKOREN thermolaminates are single-layer or multiple-layer films that are malleable in 3D. The application of outstanding printing and embossing techniques enables both the production of varied, high-quality decors and unlimited range of plain colours through the use of corresponding pigments. Good mechanical resistance, light resistance, insensitivity to stains and cleanability ensure a high level of usability.
They are used in three-dimensional surface coatings for MDF panels that are milled into shape and guarantee problem-free processing (thermoforming presses) and application for interiors (furniture, wall elements, etc.). The films are provided with an adhesive layer on the reverse to guarantee secure adhesion.
RENOLIT 3D thermolaminates can be handled on all standard thermoforming presses. In just one step, these films adhere closely to the support material, usually MDF, and reproduce even the most delicate patterns.
Thermoforming is a technique that has been established for decades in the field of processing plastic films. Above all, RENOLIT COVAREN and RENOLIT ALKOREN are widely distributed in the furniture industry. They enable three-dimensional surface coating and can be implemented in small series or even in individual pieces.
RENOLIT thermolaminates are produced in a width of 142 cm and are available on rolls. The maximum size of the shaped parts that can be produced depends on the width of the film and the size of the available thermoforming equipment. Equipment with a maximum size of 1250 - 2200 mm is widely distributed. Individual processors have the possibility of moulding a length of up to 3500 mm.

Various techniques are available for shaping and the production of 3D effects
- CNC milling: Samples, lines or typescripts are milled into the MDF support material so that positive or negative shapes are created.
- Laser cutting: The decoration is cut out of a panel using a laser. Depending on the effect to be achieved, the remaining panel or the cut-out parts is/are fixed onto an MDF panel and then deep-drawn with a RENOLIT thermolaminate.
- Textured panels: Various manufacturers offer a range of textured panels, which in turn can be processed with RENOLIT thermolaminates.
- Freeforms and objects can be positioned in any way on an MDF panel so that they can be formed with RENOLIT thermolaminate.
Mouldability is the characteristic feature of thermoplastic films. Adding heat softens them and makes it possible to change their shape, e.g. by embossing, pressing or creating a vacuum.
In the area of processing of plastic films, thermoforming has been a proven procedure for decades. It enables three-dimensional surface casing and is suitable even for small batches or single pieces.
RENOLIT 3D films are high-quality thermoplastic laminates that can be processed on any common thermoforming press. In a single work step, these films enclose the carrier material to imitate the finest of structures precisely.
In our research and development department, we are able to produce samples and prototypes for our customers. Further processing of our 3D films is performed in qualified specialist workshops with the required know-how and machines for this technology.
