Valparaiso/Chile, 30. May 2018 – Europe, North America, Asia ... and now South America, too: The RENOLIT Group – a leading global specialist for high-quality plastic film, sheets and other plastic products – has established a new production site in Valparaiso, Chile. With the addition of the new plant in Valparaiso, Chile, RENOLIT now operates its own production sites on four continents.

The RENOLIT Group has invested around 8.5 million euros in the new plant between 2017 and 2018. The new RENOLIT Chile SpA Company is part of the RENOLIT Group’s geographic expansion: “With our new location in Chile, we are taking a significant step into Latin America to supply the local market with our products. The opening of our new site in Valparaiso is a symbol for the worldwide and succesfull growth course of the RENOLIT Group”, says Michael Kundel, CEO, at the opening.

RENOLIT Chile SpA will produce in Valparaiso film for the intravenous administration of medicines - so-called IV applications. The new company was established on 24 October 2016. Construction of the new plant got underway in April 2017. In May 2018, the extrusion line and the clean room have been completed. The new facilities will go into operation in July. Its customer base will comprise companies from the medical and pharmaceuticals industry throughout South America.

A Stable Setting

Iñigo Castillo, the new company’s managing director, explains why RENOLIT has opted for this South American country: “Chile has a very stable political and economic system. It is also the country with the most free-trade agreements in South America.” The Valparaiso region was chosen for logistical reasons. The geographic location of this seaport with a population of some 280,000 is ideal for the import of raw materials. The Curauma industrial estate on which the new plant of RENOLIT Chile SpA is sited is only a 20-minute journey
from the docks.

Vast Opportunities

“The aim is to open up new markets. South America harbours vast potential for the Group with regard to both the supply of medical film and the marketing of products from other RENOLIT Business Units,” explains Thomas Sampers, Head of the Business Unit RENOLIT MEDICAL. The equipment in place at the new plant currently comprises an extrusion line and a cutting machine, both of which are installed in a medical clean room. The new location comprises a total site area of 10,500 m² which offers opportunity for intended expansion. With a multicultural team, the staff of the RENOLIT Chile SpA is very broadly positioned. “Our employees come from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Spain. They undergo training and qualification by internal and external instructors”, says Iñigo Castillo.
