RENOLIT REFACE Showcases Paris

Ora Ito and Daniel Buren work with the high-performance films from Worms

In June 2017, the new YOOMA hotel opened in Paris’s 15th arrondissement, not far from the Eiffel Tower and on the banks of the Seine. To give the façade and the interior a distinctive and classy appearance, the Euragone Investment Management company chose RENOLIT REFACE high-performance films.

“Together with the French star designer Ora Ito and the globally-active conceptual artist Danial Buren, we have succeeded in creating yet another visual highlight in this already diverse and progressive metropolis” says Claudia Karouaschan, the responsible project leader at Euragone. The YOOMA hotel’s façade is Daniel Buren’s most comprehensive work since the globally-renowned marble columns in the courtyard of the Palais Royal (1986). His signature black and white stripes (“Les Colonnes de Buren”) now embellish all of the façade cassettes of the hotel on the Quai de Grenelle. And the RENOLIT film not only looks stylish and sophisticated but also highlights the creative character of the building.

The project participants around Ora Ito, Daniel Buren and Pierre Beckerich, President of Euragone Investment Management were so impressed by the new façade that they also decided to use the film to design the lobby and the hotel’s corridors. For these, MDF panels of various sizes were painted white and then filmed with black strips. Even the special blue which Daniel Buren explicitly wanted for the façade design was readily available because of the large spectrum of colours this high-performance film can be supplied in.

“It couldn’t have gone better” adds Claudia Karouaschan. “The colour of the high-performance film and the satin-mat surface finish are just what we envisaged. RENOLIT REFACE gives the building an innovative and stylish appearance and thus fits perfectly to the new YOOMA hotel. We are very pleased to have satisfied Daniel Buren’s and Ora Ito’s exacting wishes. We would recommend RENOLIT REFACE without hesitation”.
