"MBAS" Film

"MBAS" Film
Solid color and woodgrain film for PVC, fiberglass, wood and aluminum profiles in interior environments - including a 10 year interior warranty in the US & Canada

MBAS film is an acrylic/PVC laminate in solid colors and woodgrain patterns that is intended for surfacing of a variety of profiles. MBAS is the leading window film used in Europe on interior applications. In North America it is engineered for all interior applications such as windows, doors and other building products. MBAS film brings warmth to interiors with a variety of realistic woodgrains and solids. MBAS delivers very good cleanability and chemical resistance.

A wide variety of MBAS film colors are available from stock in NJ with quantities as little as one roll. Custom colors are also available.

Polymers used in "MBAS" film

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is an acrylic polymer. PMMA offers a number of outstanding characteristics including clarity, transparency, and light transmission. It is possible to add a variety of other additives to PMMA to tailor performance (i.e. ultraviolet light absorption, impact resistance and heat resistance).

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is the most frequently specified of all thermoplastic materials. It has been used successfully for over 30 years in building products. PVC is used as the opaque base film in MBAS. It affords easy adhesion with hot melt and solvent based polyurethanes used for most PVC wrapping.

Embossed films, according to RAL GZ 716 / 1, for lamination onto profiles for interior and vertical exterior use.

Profile processing:
Welding of the profiles according to technical rules is possible without a negative influence on the quality of the film. Bending of the profiles at temperatures of max. 130° C = 266° F leads to an increase in the gloss level on the surface. The original finish can be restored by using steel wool (000) to abrade the surface again. The steel wool must be applied with special care to avoid reducing the thickness of the surface protection. There will be no measurable influence on the weatherability of the film.

Chemical resistance:
Resistant to normal household cleansing agents e.g. Ammonia water, aliphatic benzene, light alcoholic-water-solutions, cleansing agents (non-abrasive), water and building materials, e.g. cement, gypsum. Not resistant to organic solvents, mixtures of organic solvents and preparations containing organic solvents (e.g. varnish-thinners, varnish-removers, polish, adhesives and the like).

Temperature resistance:
Permanent temperature resistance £ ~ 65°C (149°F)

Whitening:
On bending the film without heating, whitening cannot be avoided due to the nature of the acrylic overlay.

Maintenance:
Appropriate cleaning with standard household cleansing-agents, excluding abrasive products. Further maintenance is not necessary. A list of the recommended cleansing agents is available at Renolit.
