"FAST" Film Colored and woodgrain film for PVC, fiberglass, wood and aluminum profiles in extreme exterior environments FAST film is an acrylic/PVDF composite in solid colors and woodgrain patterns that is intended for surfacing of a variety of profiles requiring exceptional weatherability in virtually any worldwide location. It is engineered for windows, doors, fences and other outdoor building products. This patented three-layer (opaque acrylic, clear acrylic, clear pvdf) film brings superb color retention suited to the extremes of the North American climate. Fast film is designed to wrap over profiles made of PVC, fiberglass, wood or aluminum. FAST film eliminates the need for painting, while delivering the advantages of a fluoropolymer (PVDF) surface: easy cleaning, and resistance to mold, fungus, soiling, graffiti, pollution, salt spray and chemicals. FAST film requires specific PUR adhesives for excellent long term bonding. FAST film is in stock in NJ and can be purchased one roll at a time. Custom colors are also available. Polymers used in exterior grade "FAST" film PVDF (FAST TOP PLY) Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) is a tough, extremely stable fluoropolymer. It remains almost inert when exposed to harsh thermal, chemical, and ultraviolet environments. The high fluoride content provides good chemical resistance and flame retardancy. It resists strong acids and bases as well as organic solvents and therefore is untouched by commercial cleaners or natural exposure to salt spray, smog, and moisture. It has a low surface energy and therefore resists mold and fungus and cleans up easily. PVDF is transparent to ultraviolet light and therefore will not be degraded by sunlight. Key attributes of PVDF include: - Resistant to ultraviolet and nuclear radiation
- Resistant to weathering
- Resistant to fungi
- Mechanical strength and toughness
- High abrasion resistance
- High thermal stability
- Low permeability to most gases and liquids
- Low flame and smoke characteristics
- PMMA ("FAST" film base and middle ply)
- Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is an acrylic polymer. PMMA offers a number of outstanding characteristics including clarity, transparency, and light transmission. PMMA can be pigmented in a vast array of colors. PMMA is a good polymer for coloration with heat reflective exterior grade pigments. It is possible to add a variety of other additives to PMMA to tailor performance (i.e. ultraviolet light absorption, impact resistance and heat resistance).

With exception of fluorine, our film is also resistant to halogens (chlorine, bromine, iodine). Not resistant to strong organic solvents (acetone, ethyl acetate, dimethyl formamide,… ), fuming sulphuric acid and amine, basic liquids with pH ≥ 12. Please take into account, that the chemical compatibility is strongly dependent on time, temperature, concentration, chemical condition and state of aggregation of the substance. Please be careful in the area of cut edges of the film (e.g. welded corners), since the film is unprotected in the cross section. Side penetration of chemicals can never be excluded. | | Temperature resistance | permanent temperature resistance ≤ 70° C = 158° F | | Whitening | on bending the film, whitening cannot be avoided due to the nature of the acrylic overlay. | | Maintenance | appropriate cleaning with standard household cleansing-agents, excluding abrasive products. For persistence pollutions is the special cleaner 3M "Graffiti Remover System" available. Further maintenance is not necessary. |
